BMT Huwaiza began as a women's religious study group of 12 members who together collected capital of Rp244,000 to help one another meet their families' needs.
The venture started in 2002. In 2005 it grew and was formalized as a legal cooperative entity. As membership and operations expanded, BMT Huwaiza rented a house on Jalan Raya Meruyung, Limo District, Depok, as its cooperative service office.
Since 2012, BMT Huwaiza has operated from its own building at Jalan Raya Parung Bingung No.2, Rangkapan Jaya Baru, Pancoran Mas, Depok, to this day.
To keep pace with the times and regulations, in 2020 BMT Huwaiza amended its articles of association. With the new articles ratified, it became a national primary cooperative with cross-province membership, so residents of West Java, Banten, DKI Jakarta and other provinces across Indonesia can become members.
Most BMT Huwaiza members reside in Depok and surrounding areas. To date it has not opened any branch offices, nor does it provide online lending (pinjol). Member services are held at two locations:
